Star Trek: The Adventure
January, 2003 - a trip to Hyde Park to visit the Star Trek exhibition . The exhibition carried props, costumes and sets from each incarnation of Star Trek. Like many of these things, it's really interesting to see what rubbish passes for greatness on the screen, especially video. Stuff that looks like a half-cocked painted bit of wood magically becomes a duranium alloy thing-a-ma-jig that Picard holds, and it looks real and convincing because video just misses the fine detail that screams "wood painted silver".
The film based stuff looked better, but still, it's surprising how things look in the real world as opposed to their on-screen appearance. As Spock would say: "Burp that baby"... sorry, "fascinating".
